Going abroad was an absolutely insane thought to me because I had never even thought about traveling abroad. Needless to say, there were many doubts. The flight, the language barrier, the cost, the everything. It was all something that I was.. skeptical about needless to say. Once landing in Spain, my perspective was changed. The cities were amazing, the food was even more amazing, and the people were even more amazing on top of that. It quickly became obvious that traveling abroad was easily the most wonderful decision I could have ever made. But there’s one picture that simply made the whole trip worth it. It was by far one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever laid my eyes on and whatever doubts I had about the trip quickly melted away like the snow on the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background. Simply breathtaking is all I could think. All I knew is that I wanted to live in that moment forever. I wanted a famous painter to paint that scene for me so that I could hang it in my house for forever. I just wanted that moment. forever. And I’ve never been one that’s been taken back by things, but that view on top of exploring the palaces inside really just left me in awe. Its what makes me want to go back to Granada, Spain. This trip changes the way I look at things now from a cultural perspective. Living with hosts families and seeing how they lived day to day life truly opened my eyes that there are more ways of living than the American way. there more ways of eating than the American way. Watching the sunset with that view was something that I’ll never forget and something I’ll always look back on and tell myself how glad I was that I studied abroad through the UGA’s College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences.
