Before this trip I considered wine an interest; now I consider it a passion. Something about the unique science behind wine, the way it’s grown from fruit and transformed into alcohol, captivates me. I’m in love with the multi-culturality and history of wine-the way it brings people from all generations and all different countries together. It brings people joy and enhances food in a mysterious but indefinite way. I am so thankful for the opportunity to explore the word of wine while experiencing a whole other culture. Now, I can’t get the idea of owning my own vineyard out of my head. I’ve honestly considered applying to grad school for Viticulture after attending this program. I also learned more than just Viticulture on this trip. I discovered the kind of people I want to surround myself with, the kind of place I want to live when I’m older, and how to say yes to adventures, even if it’s outside my comfort zone. I never believed I would travel to Florence, Rome, and Cinque Terre on my own, only accompanied by a backpack and group of friends. The relationships I formed on this trip are sure to last a life time. I think attending this study abroad is the best decision I’ve ever made, and I am already eager to return to Italy in the future!
