Pike Creek Turf Farms is a family farm located in Adel, Georgia. The Allen family includes Jimmy & Quay Allen, Jaimie & Lynne Allen, and Dake & Kim Allen Boling. Starting out with just 100 acres in 1989, Pike Creek Turf was able to expand to roughly 2,000 acres in 2006. In 2006, Pike Creek Turf was recognized as the largest producer of Fumigated Georgia Certified Turf grasses in the Southeastern United States. In 2006, Pike Creek Turf also led Cook County to be #1 in the State of Georgia in turfgrass production. That year, Pike Creek Turf then took home the title of “Company of the Year in Adel-Cook County” at the annual banquet. Pike Creek Turf grows a variety of 14 different types of Bermudagrasses, Zoysia, Centipede, and Paspalum turf grasses. Their turf grasses are so high quality that they have been able to grow their international sales. Their grasses are available for different sizes of sods, row planting, golf course sprigging, and athletic field sprigging. What I am looking forward to most at this stop is the opportunity to visit a turf grass farm. I visited a small sod farm for the first time about two years ago, and I am excited to see an operation like Pike Creek Turf on such a large scale.
