On November 19, 2025 Michael Batame<\/a> took part in the 10th Anniversary celebration of YouthMappers in New York and was honored to be chosen by the YouthMappers Steering Committee as one of the distinguished former members to speak at the global event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael gave a presentation on \u201cAgriculture and Food Security,\u201d highlighting a project supported by the University of Ghana YouthMappers Chapter, which is now published in BioMed Central (BMC), a significant milestone for the YouthMappers community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael’s YouthMappers journey began in 2018, while he was an undergraduate studying Geography at the University of Ghana. Since then, the network has been transformative, improving his geospatial skills and leadership qualities, expanding his international network, and opening opportunities that have taken him around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event gathered academics, industry leaders, students, and YouthMappers members from around the world and featured a special tour of the United Nations Headquarters, highlighting YouthMappers’ worldwide influence and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YouthMappers is a global movement of university students using public geospatial tools and data to build community resilience while addressing development challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lamm Lab celebrates Michael\u2019s contributions and continued growth. His story is a shining example of how YouthMappers empowers young leaders to create global change and is part of what eventually brought him to the University of Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
