D.M. Vickers & Associates, P.C. was initially formed in 1984 to provide clients in Middle Georgia with a full range of professional services.   As a Look Ahead Georgia intern with DM Vickers and Associates you’ll have the opportunity to be a part of a homegrown Hawkinsville firm that now has a larger regional footprint interacting with clients across Georgia and throughout the Southeast.  This internship provides UGA students with valuable training, mentorship, and networking opportunities while being fully immersed in the day-to-day operations of a homegrown company with over 40 years of experience.

Job Duties

Assist in preparing financial statements, reports and extended tax returns.
Help with accounts receivable, payable, and bank statement reconciliation.
Participate in the preparation of monthly and yearly closings.
Assist with audit preparations and participate in field audits.
Perform data entry and administrative duties.
Collaborate with the accounting team on various projects.

Job Qualifications

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or a CLOSELY related field (e.g. Agribusiness)
Basic understanding of accounting and financial principles
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Attention to detail and ability to multitask
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Students selected for an internship will be paired with a career mentor/ supervisor within the employer for the purpose of career exploration and career skills development.
Interns will also build in-demand career competencies such as communication skills, critical thinking, professionalism and leadership through a special series of weekly online workshops facilitated by the UGA Career Center and the J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development during the internship period. As part of the program’s evaluation process, interns will be evaluated on these competencies at the beginning and end of the internship.
Interns will also have the opportunity to connect with local UGA alumni through the UGA Mentoring Program and begin to immerse themselves in the social and civic fabric of the community as an adult.
Interns will have opportunities to understand community issues and opportunities by attending Archway Partnership meetings, civic club meetings and other community activities.
