{"id":2850,"date":"2020-09-30T11:19:14","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T15:19:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/ftfpeanutlab\/?p=2850"},"modified":"2020-09-30T11:19:16","modified_gmt":"2020-09-30T15:19:16","slug":"comments-taken-on-new-horticulture-innovation-lab","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/ftfpeanutlab\/2020\/09\/comments-taken-on-new-horticulture-innovation-lab\/","title":{"rendered":"Comments taken on new Horticulture Innovation Lab"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The U.S. Agency for International Development is accepting comments on a call for a Horticulture Innovation Lab.\u00a0A recent Feed the Future Horticulture Innovation Lab program was managed by the University of California-Davis, but went on hiatus last year at the end of 10-year term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As it is currently proposed, the lab will work in two areas of inquiry:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Resilient horticultural management practices, such as practices related to managing water, soil fertility and pests\/disease, effective design and building of protective structures and post-harvest quality, storage &amp; handling&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Horticultural enterprise development and commercialization, including a responsive approach to gender and youth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As it is proposed, the lab would receive $20 million in base funding, with $19.5 million potential in mission buy-ins and associate awards.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comments are due by Oct. 20.
