{"id":2448,"date":"2018-06-15T11:43:20","date_gmt":"2018-06-15T15:43:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/ftfpeanutlab\/?p=2448"},"modified":"2018-06-15T11:43:33","modified_gmt":"2018-06-15T15:43:33","slug":"contest-offers-funding-for-best-ideas-to-eliminate-aflatoxin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/ftfpeanutlab\/2018\/06\/contest-offers-funding-for-best-ideas-to-eliminate-aflatoxin\/","title":{"rendered":"Contest offers funding for best ideas to eliminate aflatoxin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition, in conjunction with Mars and the Sight and Life Foundation, is holding an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elevator-pitch-contest.org\/home\/\">elevator-pitch contest<\/a>, asking for students and young professionals to share ideas that could lead to an aflatoxin-free food system.<\/p>\n<p>The best ideas for a disruptive solution can get $15,000 in seed funds and an audience with private investors.<\/p>\n<p>Students and young professionals who graduated in the last five years can apply.<\/p>\n<p>The contest has two categories: <!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Non-food category: Aimed at finding alternative, non-food solutions to keep aflatoxin-contaminated foods and feeds out of the food system<\/li>\n<li>Food category: Aimed at identifying solutions to eliminate or reduce exposure to aflatoxins from foods and feeds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Three finalists from each category will win a trip to Mumbai to participate in the 19th World Congress of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST, October 23-28, 2018) and pitch their idea to a panel of experts and potential investors.<\/p>\n<p>The winner in each category will receive $15,000 to further develop the idea.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline to apply is 6 August at 11:59 p.m. CEST.
