{"id":2358,"date":"2018-02-01T11:49:19","date_gmt":"2018-02-01T16:49:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/pmil\/?p=2358"},"modified":"2018-02-01T10:51:25","modified_gmt":"2018-02-01T15:51:25","slug":"register-for-gender-focused-legume-breeding-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/ftfpeanutlab\/2018\/02\/register-for-gender-focused-legume-breeding-course\/","title":{"rendered":"Register for gender-focused legume breeding course"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The deadline is Feb. 15 to register for the two-week GREAT Gender-Responsive Legume Breeding Course, which will be held in Kampala, Uganda in two sessions, from July 23 to Aug. 1, 2018 and Jan. 14-18, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>GREAT courses are intensive, cohort-based trainings for small interdisciplinary teams of researchers from leading agricultural research institutions across sub-Saharan Africa. Through applied training in gender-responsive research theory and methods, participants can elevate the impact of their research, while building their professional network. GREAT&#8217;s training team of researchers is from Makerere University, Cornell University and other institutions.<\/p>\n<p>This course is for: <!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Agricultural scientists: develop tools and skills to make your research more impactful for farmers, and more attractive to funders<\/li>\n<li>Social scientists: improve your qualitative and quantitative research skills, and learn how to better integrate the two into effective mixed methods research approaches<\/li>\n<li>Research teams: improve your ability to design, budget, carry out, analyze and report on agricultural research projects, as a team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Researchers are encouraged to apply in interdisciplinary teams of two or three, combining biophysical and social scientists, who are working on applied legume-oriented research for development projects in sub-Saharan Africa. No previous gender training is necessary, and limited scholarship funding is available.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are due by February 15.
