Sept. 19 is the deadline for brief concept notes, submitted by U.S. university researchers.<br \/>\nThe research should be focused on the needs of smallholder farmers in developing countries that are part of Feed the Future, with priority given to Cambodia, Nepal and Rwanda.<br \/>\nUnderstanding the socioeconomic feasibility and trade-offs involved in mixed crop-livestock farming systems \u2014 ones that specifically incorporate fruit and vegetable crops \u2014 is the focus of this new call for concept notes.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.horticulture.ucdavis.edu\/2016\/08\/grant-for-research-on-crop-livestock-systems\/?utm_campaign=animal-hort-rfp-blog&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=newsletter-160808&amp;utm_content=first\"> Check out the announcement here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The lab has two other open opportunities for funding. The program previously announced two calls for research proposals, one related to <a href=\"https:\/\/horticulture.ucdavis.edu\/main\/funding.htm#tomato\">tomato handling and marketing in Burkina Faso<\/a> and another related to <a href=\"https:\/\/horticulture.ucdavis.edu\/main\/funding.htm#apricot\">dried apricot handling and marketing in Tajikistan<\/a>. Instructions for how to apply for all three of these grants are on the <a href=\"https:\/\/horticulture.ucdavis.edu\/main\/funding.htm\">Horticulture Innovation Lab\u2019s Funding Opportunities page<\/a>.<br \/>\nThe program also maintains a running list of researchers in a variety of countries who are interested in collaborating on future projects.
