{"id":1700,"date":"2016-05-04T14:47:30","date_gmt":"2016-05-04T18:47:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/pmil\/?p=1700"},"modified":"2016-05-04T14:47:30","modified_gmt":"2016-05-04T18:47:30","slug":"mit-offering-evaluations-of-technologies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/ftfpeanutlab\/2016\/05\/mit-offering-evaluations-of-technologies\/","title":{"rendered":"MIT offering evaluations of technologies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIT&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cite.mit.edu\/\">Comprehensive Initiative on Technology Evaluation (CITE)<\/a>, is taking proposals for technical projects that could use a comprehensive evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>In the upcoming fiscal year, CITE will be conducting several evaluations, but since this is the final year of the current round of funding from USAID, CITE will place particular emphasis on projects that can be completed in a timely manner (6-8 months) and that have a strong potential for impact or evaluations that come with some level of funding or resources. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>CITE\u00a0is developing a rigorous methodology for evaluating technological solutions to challenges in the developing world based on their suitability (technical performance), scalability (supply chain effectiveness), and sustainability (likelihood of sustained adoption by users). These evaluations guide decision makers in choosing or developing the appropriate technology for their interventions. CITE is currently working on evaluations of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>food aid packaging in partnership with Food for Peace<\/li>\n<li>wheelchairs in partnership with DCHA\/DRG<\/li>\n<li>solar water pumps in collaboration with USAID\/India<\/li>\n<li>Uganda&#8217;s Feed the Future market facilitation approach in partnership with the Mission<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CITE has also completed evaluations of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cite.mit.edu\/reports\/solar-lantern-evaluation\">solar lanterns in Uganda<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cite.mit.edu\/reports\/water-filter-evaluation\">water filters<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cite.mit.edu\/reports\/water-test-kit-evaluation\">test kits<\/a>\u00a0in India,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cite.mit.edu\/reports\/post-harvest-storage-evaluation\">post-harvest food storage in Uganda<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cite.mit.edu\/reports\/malaria-rapid-diagnostic-test-evaluation\">malaria rapid diagnostic tests in Uganda<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cite.mit.edu\/reports\/educational-technologies-evaluation\">education technologies in India<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to submit a technology for evaluation, please\u00a0complete the<a href=\"https:\/\/pmil.caes.uga.edu\/documents\/CITE-ProductFamilyProfile-Year5.doc\"> product profile template<\/a>\u00a0 and return to Kendra Leith (<a href=\"mailto:kleith@mit.edu\">kleith@mit.edu<\/a>)\u00a0by May 17.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MIT&#8217;s\u00a0Comprehensive Initiative on Technology Evaluation (CITE), is taking proposals for technical projects that could use a comprehensive evaluation.
