{"id":1420,"date":"2015-11-13T16:24:03","date_gmt":"2015-11-13T21:24:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/pmil\/?p=1420"},"modified":"2015-11-13T16:25:03","modified_gmt":"2015-11-13T21:25:03","slug":"aflastop-releases-results-on-storage-system-tests-in-kenya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/ftfpeanutlab\/2015\/11\/aflastop-releases-results-on-storage-system-tests-in-kenya\/","title":{"rendered":"AflaSTOP releases results on storage system tests in Kenya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The AflaSTOP: Storage and Drying for Aflatoxin Prevention project has a new monthly newsletter to keep everyone up to date on the progress of the month.<\/p>\n<p>AflaSTOP is a ACDI\/VOCA project in Kenya, working to find storage options that impede the growth of aflatoxin and give smallholder farmers a way to dry their grain and store it safely. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In the first edition of the new newsletter, AflaSTOP reviews the results of tests to compare five hermetic storage devices (metal silo; plastic silo; Grain Pro bulk bag; PICs Bag; Grain Pro Super Bag) on the growth of aflatoxin, fumonisin, and post-harvest concerns such as insect damage, moisture loss, and grain discoloration.
