The Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa will hold its second biennial partnership platform meeting on 11-13 October in Kampala, Uganda. PACA

The meeting will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to share lessons and information, engage and deepen partnerships to create synergies, and alignment around current and future aflatoxin-control efforts on the continent.

Under the auspices of the African Union Commission, PACA will focus the second partnership platform meeting on the theme “Tracking Commitments and Sustaining Implementation for Results and Impact.”

The meeting creates a forum for the full array of stakeholders involved in the management of aflatoxins – including AUC, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), national governments, regulators, parliamentarians, private sector, non-government organizations with focus on health, nutrition, trade and sustainable development, research and academia, civil society groups, and development partners. The meeting’s goals include to:

  • Review the progress of implementing the specific actions identified at the first partnership platform meeting.
  • Revisit other efforts of the past two years to implement PACA activities at continental, regional and national levels, in order to assess the attained successes and recorded challenges, for the development of a clear roadmap for the next two years of implementation.
  • Review and endorse planned approaches for implementing PACA Phase II, 2016-2019.
  • Review and celebrate the numerous programs and activities being implemented by partners in managing aflatoxin, particularly the active leadership of key agents of change and aflatoxin mitigation champions active on the continent.
  • Review and strengthen instruments and mechanisms for accountability, M&E and reporting for all PACA stakeholders.
