Welcome to the CEA Breeding Lab
The CEA Breeding lab conducts basic and applied research on breeding of horticultural crops to assist CEA industry here in Georgia and beyond. Our goal is to develop cultivars of specialty crops suitable for production in controlled environments like greenhouses, high tunnels, and indoor vertical farming operations.
We are currently working on following breeding programs:
1. Breeding in crops like melon and summer squash for improved horticultural traits
2. Resistance to powdery mildew in Cucurbit crops
3. Breeding for improved fruit quality in dwarf tomatoes
We are also looking forward to pursuing breeding and horticultural research in other crops based on industry and demand.
Future areas of interest: Hydroponics, Grafting, Vertical farming
