At the Barman Lab, we believe that research has the greatest impact when it reaches the people who can use it. Our Extension program is dedicated to connecting science with practice by providing growers, county Extension agents, industry professionals, and other stakeholders with\u00a0timely, research-based information on pest management in pecan and citrus production systems.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our goal is to help growers make informed decisions, adopt sustainable management practices, and address emerging pest challenges through practical solutions that improve crop productivity, profitability, and long-term sustainability.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What We Do\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We actively engage with growers and stakeholders throughout Georgia through county production meetings, field days, orchard demonstrations, workshops, and industry conferences. These interactions allow us to share the latest research findings, discuss current pest issues, and receive valuable feedback from the agricultural community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lab also develops Extension publications, factsheets, pest alerts, newsletters, and other educational resources focused on pest identification, monitoring, and management. In addition, we work closely with county Extension agents, growers, and industry partners to address emerging threats such as invasive pests and insect-vectored diseases affecting pecan and citrus production. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through these activities, we strive to ensure that research findings are translated into practical management recommendations that directly benefit Georgia’s specialty crop industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
