This annual seminar shares the latest research and information from UGA faculty to help farmers and agribusinesses in Georgia&#8217;s No. 1 industry. In addition to the overall Georgia forecast and commodity-specific research the 2025 Georgia Ag Forecast featured a panel as part of the program to discuss perspectives and challenges for the coming year. However, prices for food consumed away from home are expected to remain higher than those for food consumed at home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Commodity Prices<\/strong>: Commodity prices are forecast to trend downward in the near term, with stability anticipated in the medium term.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Farm Income<\/strong>: National net farm income is expected to decline by 4.1% in nominal terms and 6.3% in inflation-adjusted terms in 2024. However, these projections may not apply to Georgia due to the significant damages caused by Hurricane Helene.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Economic Outlook<\/strong>: The consensus around the 2025 U.S. economic outlook suggests a slowdown in GDP growth relative to 2024, with moderate investment growth and stable labor markets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"472\" src=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/alumni\/files\/2025\/02\/Ag-Forecast-1024x472.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-745\" srcset=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/alumni\/files\/2025\/02\/Ag-Forecast-1024x472.png 1024w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/alumni\/files\/2025\/02\/Ag-Forecast-300x138.png 300w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/alumni\/files\/2025\/02\/Ag-Forecast-768x354.png 768w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/alumni\/files\/2025\/02\/Ag-Forecast-1536x708.png 1536w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/alumni\/files\/2025\/02\/Ag-Forecast.png 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s program also debuted the <a href=\"https:\/\/discover.caes.uga.edu\/georgiaagimpact\/index.html\">Georgia Ag Impact Report<\/a>, a new interactive website that provides research-backed insights tailored to agricultural stakeholders, empowering them to support Georgia\u2019s agricultural economy. The Ag Impact Report website provides high level to Georgia&#8217;s economic such as the top commodities which were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. <strong>Broilers:<\/strong> $5.8 billion | 33% of total farm gate value<br>2. <strong>Eggs:<\/strong> $988 million | 5.6% of total farm gate value<br>3. <strong>Beef:<\/strong> $981.7 million | 5.6% of total farm gate value<br>4. <strong>Cotton:<\/strong> $938.6 million | 5.3% of total farm gate value<br>5. <strong>Peanuts:<\/strong> $915 million | 5.2% of total farm gate value<br>6. <strong>Timber:<\/strong> $885.8 million | 5% of total farm gate value<br>7. <strong>Greenhouse:<\/strong> $585 million | 3.3% of total farm gate value<br>8. <strong>Blueberries:<\/strong> $526.6 million | 3% of total farm gate value<br>9. <strong>Corn:<\/strong> $514 million | 2.9% of total farm gate value<br>10. <strong>Dairy:<\/strong> $456.1 million | 2.6% of total farm gate valueThe Georgia Ag Forecast website allows users to drill down into more detailed information, including county-level and commodity-specific data.
