The rivals are participating in&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/auvuga.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Beat Week<\/a>, a one-week giving challenge between the two universities. The 2021 matchup marks the second time the two universities have joined together for a giving challenge leading up to the annual UGA vs. Auburn football game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns are-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/alumni\/files\/2021\/10\/IMG_1328.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"339\" class=\"wp-image-339\" srcset=\"https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/alumni\/files\/2021\/10\/IMG_1328.jpg 768w, https:\/\/site.caes.uga.edu\/alumni\/files\/2021\/10\/IMG_1328-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-item__caption\"><strong>Dean Nick Place and his wife, Deb, with a calf at Ag Dawg Kickoff. The dean with fewer gifts will have to wear the other college\u2019s spirit gear during the milking contest at this month\u2019s\u00a0<\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sunbeltexpo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sunbelt Ag Expo<\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<p>Alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, parents and fans are encouraged to join the Beat Week challenge. The institution with the highest number of gifts gets bragging rights as the Beat Week winners \u2014 the challenge is for the overall number of gifts, not the total amount given. Each donation counts as a separate gift, so if a donor supports one fund today and another later this week, it will count as two gifts. Anyone who donates should consider splitting a $10 gift into two $5 gifts. Gifts made from Monday, Oct. 4, until midnight Saturday, Oct. 9, will count in the total.<strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To up the stakes, UGA&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.caes.uga.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences<\/a>&nbsp;(CAES) and the College of Agriculture at Auburn are going head-to-head to see which college gets the most gifts during Beat Week. The winning college\u2019s dean will get to crown the other dean with their spirit colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to the opportunity to beat Auburn both on and off the field during Beat Week \u2014 I\u2019m certainly hoping that, with the help of CAES donors, I don\u2019t have to wear that orange and navy,\u201d said Dean\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.caes.uga.edu\/departments\/dean-and-director\/meet-the-staff\/nick-place.html\" target=\"_blank\">Nick T. Place<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The student group is focused on raising funds for the CAES Student Emergency fund, which directly helps students experiencing a financial hardship.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am proud to support CAES because I see our alumni giving so consistently and with enthusiasm,\u201d said Kelly Tims, a 2020 graduate with dual bachelor\u2019s degrees in entomology and environmental science and a current doctoral candidate in the Department of Entomology. \u201cI see the ways donations can affect my life and the lives of other students, so I\u2019m excited I can give a little back to the college that made UGA feel like home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gifts can be made to any UGA or CAES fund.
