The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) has continued to foster meaningful connections between alumni and students through intentional programming this past spring. From small group conversations to large networking gatherings—in Athens and beyond—these experiences showcased the power of the CAES community, their impact in their chosen fields, and their drive to give back to the next generation.
There’s nothing quite like bringing alumni and students together face-to-face, and CAES Intros & Appetizers did just that on February 12.
The evening offered a laid back, welcoming environment where students could connect with CAES alumni over light bites and lively conversation. Designed to encourage meaningful interaction, the event featured small group rotations at alumni stations. This format allowed students to engage with multiple professionals, hear firsthand stories, and ask questions about career paths, industries, and life after graduation.
On February 25, CAES Alumni Relations hosted Cultivating Careers: UGA CAES Alumni in Unexpected Places, a virtual panel that highlighted the versatility of a CAES degree.
Alumnae Katie Comer (BSA – Agricultural Communications, ’13) of Meta, Kristen Dunning (BSA – Agricultural Communications, ’21) of Gently Soaps, and Erica Palmisano (BSA – Biological Science, ’04) of FirstPage Marketing came together to share their experiences and unique career journeys with students from CAES and the Arch Ready program. Each panelist offered an honest and inspiring look at how their paths evolved—often leading them into roles and industries they hadn’t originally anticipated.
Through candid conversation, they discussed the skills they gained during their time at CAES, the pivots they made along the way, and the ways they embraced opportunities outside of traditional expectations. Their stories reinforced an important message: a CAES education opens doors far beyond the obvious.
CAES continued hosting Ag Dawgs at Work, bringing accomplished alumni back to Athens for small, meaningful conversations with students.
In this setting, alumni shared a meal with students, provided an overview of their career journeys, and led open Q&A discussions. These candid conversations created space for honest dialogue and personal connection while leaving a lasting impression on the students in attendance.

CAES closed out the spring with Ag Dawgs After Hours in Washington, D.C., bringing together alumni and friends in the nation’s capital.
This special evening welcomed members of the CAES community from across the D.C. area and highlighted the next generation of leaders by introducing the 2026 Congressional Ag Fellows and CAES student interns spending their summer on Capitol Hill.
Dean Nick T. Place also shared updates on the college, offering attendees a look at the exciting work and momentum happening at CAES. The event created a unique opportunity to connect experienced alumni with current students, reinforcing the power of the CAES network in a national—and global—context.

These gatherings reinforce the CAES Alumni Association’s mission to foster and maintain close relationships between its students, alumni, and friends. Whether through networking events, panel discussions, small-group mentorship, or regional gatherings, the CAES community remains dedicated to supporting students and celebrating alumni success.
We are deeply grateful to the alumni who generously shared their time, stories, and expertise—and to the students who engaged with curiosity and enthusiasm. These connections are what make CAES special, and we look forward to continuing to grow this vibrant network.
