Lucas oversees the molecular laboratory, mentors students and postdocs learning molecular techniques, assists with field work, and just generally keeps us all in line.
His main foci at the moment are:
- Assessing bacterial communities in birds, insects and soils
- Examining anti-herbivore plant defenses
- Determining predator diets using molecular methods
